NsoFirst: Empowering Unity and Progress Under Mfoome Stephen's Leadership

Mfoome Stephen Ndzerem was more than just a man; he was a visionary giant who envisioned Nso as an Eldorado—a land of prosperity, unity, and cultural revival. His unwavering dedication to the #NsoFirst movement was a testament to his deep love for his people and heritage. Through his leadership, he inspired countless individuals to embrace their identity, celebrate their traditions, and work collectively toward a brighter future for Nso. His legacy lives on through the #NsoFirst vision and the many #NsoFirst Initiatives that emerged as a direct product of his dream for a stronger, more united Nso.

One of the biggest visions initiated by Mfoome Ndzerem Stephen Njodzeka was the NsoFirst initiative. This initiative which was aimed at creating the patriotic spirit, a sense of belonging and the pride of being Nso in every Nso son and daughter was sub-divided into different Renaissance initiatives under the Coordination of Ngo Banjika (aka Mfoome Europe).

Campaign Background

Due to the ongoing war in Nso, our people are facing immeasurable devastation on their health, social, economic, cultural, and educational activities. Many of our loved ones cannot even receive their last respect and honor; to be buried in Nso.

Our traditional & cultural institutions have been decimated; our Fon and other significant traditional rulers are currently out of Nso for fear of their lives.

We cannot sit back and watch. Speak Out & ACT now!

Our schools are shut down, posing an existential threat to development. Our healthcare institutions are deteriorating rapidly. There is a high rate of teenage pregnancy, and this trend is rising.

The death rate of our youth (particularly the boys) is alarming and continues to rise. Kidnappings and targeted killings are now common occurrences, forcing many to flee Nso.

Why #NsoFirst Campaign?
 A triggering of a new mindset:

  • That of being #NsoFirst before belonging to any particular religion.
  • That of being #NsoFirst before belonging to a political party.
  • That of being #NsoFirst before identifying as a unionist, federalist, or restorationist.
  • That of being #NsoFirst before titles—Director, Minister, Civil Servant, Wealth Creator, Private Sector Employee, Self-Employed (taxi driver, laborer, broker, handyman, undertaker, or achaba).

#NsoFirst is extending a leaf of peace to one another in recognition that despite our differences, that which unifies us—#NsoFirst—is far greater than anything that seeks to separate us.

Commentary

Being #NsoFirst is not just in words; it is professing through action and working for the common good.

  • That of being #NsoFirst before being royal, commoner, or an aboriginal Nso.
  • That of being #NsoFirst before being a resident at home or abroad.
  • That of being #NsoFirst before being a regime apologist or an Amba supporter.
  • That of being #NsoFirst before belonging to a particular family, compound, or town.

#NsoFirst is not only about self-projection; it is about community service, investment in people, and contributing to the common basket.

#NsoFirst is above everything else—except #NsoFirst.
